Ammonium ion bonding1/30/2024 ![]() Moreover, complexes involving multiple hydrogen bonds may have slower dissociation kinetics, allowing competition from fast dissociation processes that have substantial energy barriers. In contrast, those complexes strongly bound by multiple hydrogen bonds dissociate not only to the protonated polyether and/or ammonium ions but also by extensive covalent bond cleavage of the protonated ether skeleton. This latter type of dissociation behavior suggests that the polyether/ammonium ion complexes may be sufficiently strongly bound that surpassing the high barrier to decomposition results in formation of internally excited polyether molecules that may then undergo subsequent fragmentation by skeletal cleavages. After collisional activation, those complexes that are weakly bound dissociate to form intact protonated polyether molecules and/or ammonium ions by simple cleavages of the hydrogen-bond association interactions. The nature of the hydrogen-bonding interactions of the ion complexes are evaluated by comparison of their collision-activated dissociation spectra. Ammonium ion (NH4+) The reaction of ammonia with an acid to produce ammonium salt fits in the examples of a coordinate covalent bond formation. In this study a variety of hydrogen-bonded crown ether/ammonium ion complexes are generated in the gas phase by association reactions between an amine substrate and a polyether, one of which is initially protonated, and stabilized by many collisions in the chemical ionlzation source of a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer or in a quadrupole ion trap. This study presents the first non-metal battery with potential for low-temperature applications and opens the door to future metal-free electronics that would generate long-term benefits to the environment.Hydrogen bonds are among the most important interactions involved in selective complexation in host-guest chemistry. Ammonium ions, NH 4+, are formed by the transfer of a hydrogen ion from the hydrogen chloride to the lone pair of electrons on the ammonia molecule. ![]() Additionally, the physiochemical properties of NH 4 +-based WiSEs are examined by Raman and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopies, to explore their electrochemical behaviors and the fundamental effect of salt concentration on the electrolyte characteristics. This battery is found to deliver a capacity of 78.405 mA h g −1 at 25 ☌ and 49.083 mA h g −1 at 0 ☌ with a capacity retention of 71.83% after 200 cycles, demonstrating its potential for operations at low temperatures. Additionally, a full battery is assembled using the PPy cathode and PANI anode coupled with 19 m NH 4CH 3COO WiSE. Ammonia atom (NH3) reacts with hydrogen ion (H+) to produce ammonium ion (NH4+) by forming a coordinate covalent bond. When tested in a three-electrode cell containing 25 m NH 4CH 3COO electrolyte, PPy exhibits an impressive capacity of 125 mA h g −1 at a specific current of 1 A g −1 and retains 43.61 mA h g −1 at 25 A g −1. Predict the type of bonding in the following molecules : (i) Oxygen (ii) Calcium oxide (vii). For the first time, PPy is demonstrated as a high-capacity host material for both NH 4 + and K + storage, when cycled in water in salt electrolytes (WiSEs). Metals can only lose electrons to provide positive ions. ![]() For example, the mutual attraction between an aspartic acid carboxylate ion and a lysine ammonium ion helps to maintain a particular folded area of a protein (part (a) of Figure 22.4. Herein, we present an all-organic metal-free NH 4 + ion full battery that can operate at a low temperature of 0 ☌, by using polypyrrole (PPy) as the cathode, polyaniline (PANI) as the anode, and 19 m ammonium acetate aqueous solution as electrolyte. Ionic bonds result from electrostatic attractions between positively and negatively charged side chains of amino acids. Thus, metal-free batteries present a unique opportunity as sustainable energy storage devices, though the relevant research is still in its infancy. Current commercial batteries are mainly metal based, with metal elements in charge carriers and/or electrode materials, which poses potential economic and environmental concerns due to the heavy use of nonrenewable metals.

Mydraw drawbacks1/30/2024 ![]() Photographs don't do the celluloid justice: the material appears much darker on the screen than it does in real life, and you can't get a good sense of the depth of color and complexity of the design.Ī word of caution about celluloid pens: they can stain. It's a mixture of black, graphite, and gray pearl intermixed with veins of bright blue (think "Bung Box Sapphire" blue). This particular celluloid might be the most beautiful material I've ever owned. This pen is made from Tibaldi "Impero" celluloid, which is no longer available so I snatched this pen up as soon as I saw it come on the secondary "Slack" market. The Material: Discontinued Tibaldi Celluloid I haven't measured it yet, but my best guess would be around 4ml. I have it filled as an eyedropper, so it also has an enormous ink capacity. Since this pen does not have the brass pump filling system that the Menlo is known for, it's extremely light and perfect for longer writing sessions. I prefer the more slender torpedo shape that sits well in the hand and is comfortable to write with posted or unposted. The Menlo is definitely my favorite of all of the Edison pens that I've tried to date. I was not compensated in any way for this review. Some specific materials may be more expensive than standard acrylic, and Edison also offers nib customizations.ĭisclaimer: I paid for the pen featured in this review with my own money. A different filling system, (bulb, pump, pneumatic, or draw filler, pictured here) adds $100 to the price, so the pen featured in this review would cost $375. ![]() Cartridge/converter pens start at $275 with a steel nib and $375 with an 18k gold nib. Pricing is fairly standard across the entire Edison Signature Line. If you'd like a Menlo made in a specific material or configuration, reach out to Edison Pens via their website. You can view their current stock of Menlo pump and draw fillers here. Since the Menlo is part of the Edison Pens "Signature Line," it's considered a custom pen, though Edison keeps a selection of pens in stock that are available for order at any time. The Edison Menlo is a fantastic fountain pen, and if you're in the market for a lightweight pen with a massive ink capacity to serve as your primary daily writer, it's easily one of your best options. I purchased this Edison Menlo at the 2017 D.C. Another thing to note is that if you choose a Menlo with a special filling system - either the pump or the draw filler - the nib and feed have to be customized for the filling system and you will not be able to swap nibs out as easily as you would with a standard JoWo nib unit. That said, Edison can also make you a cartridge/converter Menlo. If you're a serial ink-switcher, and the ability to change inks regularly is important, you may want to forego the draw or pummp filler since they make the pen more difficult to flush and clean than your typical cartridge/converter system. Also, since the ink is in contact with the back of the feed, as opposed to flowing through the narrow converter, my draw filler tends to be a wetter, smoother writer than my standard cartridge/converter pens, similar to an eyedropper (without the mess from filling).Īre there any drawbacks to the Menlo? Not many that I can think of. If you purchase from Edison at a show, they will adjust the nib for smoothness, ink flow, etc. Like other Edison pens, the Menlo uses JoWo nibs, and each is hand tuned prior to shipping the pen. Nib system and General Writing Experience. As a result, you can use the Menlo posted or unposted without dramatically altering the balance of the pen, which is a huge plus for me. I absolutely love the fact that the draw filler gives you the ink capacity of a piston filler (and perhaps more) without the added weight of a piston filler. The pen looks great without sacrificing usability, especially in terms of size, weight, and balance. ![]() To me, the Menlo represents the Edison pen with the perfect combination of design and functionality. Brian has been making pens for a long time, and his experience shows in the quality of the end product. Construction. From the moment you pick it up, you notice that this pen is obviously sturdy and well-made.What I Like/Love about the Menlo Draw Filler

Corn in microwave1/30/2024 ![]() No, because while it’s perfectly safe to cook corn in a microwave, it’s not better than other methods. Yes, because as long as you follow a few simple guidelines mentioned below, there’s nothing wrong with microwaving corn on the cob. So, does that mean you should stop worrying about microwaving your corn? In fact, microwaving foods may retain more nutrients than other preparation methods. However, studies have shown that in most cases, microwaving does not affect nutrient content.

Gopro slomo1/30/2024 ![]() To shoot slow-mo with GoPro Hero 10, the initial resolution and fps setting should be 4K and 60fps, respectively. Ideally, the frame rate is set at 60 fps or higher. The higher the frame rate of the original shoot, the higher the quality of the slow-motion clip. The frame rate of the original footage determines the clarity and quality of the slow-mo video. Slow Motion Videos in GoPro Hero 11 and Hero 10 Just have a look at this video shot by The Slow Mo Guys. Taken to extreme, slow-motion videos can look pretty darn amazing. So that’s what makes slow-motion videos so fun and interesting to watch. When you are using super high frame rates you are actually catching still shots that the human eye can’t even see because it is happening so fast. The higher the frame rate is the more dramatic the slow-motion effect you will be if you play the video at the normal speed of 30 fps. Some cameras can shoot at even higher frame rates such as 120 fps or even 240 fps. The result will be a video that lasts twice as much and looks slowed down. This means that you can slow down your 60 fps video to 30 fps. If crack up the frame rate to 60 fps you are capturing twice as many frames in the same amount the time – in just 1 second. If you playback every page of that book it will look just like a movie. Your average camera will shoot with 30 still frames every second or 30 fps (frame per second). Plus, to improve the cinematic appeal, and to lay special emphasis on certain action sequences in a scene. Many people opt for slow-motion to highlight minute details and nuances in the film. Why create slow-motion videos? For the simple reason, that slow-motion clips are so appealing to the eye and amazing to watch, especially action and adventure videos. This means that it will take 4 seconds to playback just 1 second of real-time. So if you take your 1-second video shoot with your GoPro at 120 fps and play it back at 30 fps you will end up with a video that now lasts 4 seconds. To achieve a slow-motion effect, your playback frame rate needs to be lower than your filming frame rate. ![]() That’s because when your filming frame rate matches your playback you end up with a real-time, normal speed video. ![]() If you playback that video at 120 fps it will look normal, or real-time. The last option, it’s only possible to create slow-mo videos at 50% speed.įor example, let’s say you are using a GoPro Black Hero 7 and you shoot for just 1 second at 120 frames per second (fps). The resultant videos are the derivatives of videos shot with higher frame rates (240fps, 120fps, or 60fps). Slow motion comes from the relation between your filming frame rate and your playback frame rate. These cameras are best suited to film amazing slow-motion clips of high resolution and top-notch clarity.Īnd I’m going to start with the beginning. If you’re using the latest models of GoPro – Hero 11 or Hero 10 Black, then you’re already better placed to pull off this task.īoth, GoPro Hero 11 and GoPro Hero 10 are loaded with some great features and some really interesting updates. How does it work? What settings should you use? How can you slow down your GoPro footage in post-production? And what is some video editing software that you can use? We are going to look at the ins and outs of slow motioning with a GoPro. So if you are wondering how you can create buttery smooth GoPro slow-motion videos this post will come in handy. ![]() Not all videos can be slowed down in post-production while maintaining good video quality. Unfortunately, I can’t always do it because the scenes were not filmed with that in mind. Perturbator raw power1/30/2024 ![]() There’s the crushing ‘ Humans Are Such Easy Prey‘ that resonates with relentless fury, channeling all of Trent Reznor’s noisiest moments, climaxing with twenty seconds of mayhem as the track goes into double time. It’s dark, tense and beautifully haunting. There is another callback as Isabella Goloversic returns to sing on ‘ Hard Wired‘, a song that sounds like it should be accompanied by the visuals of Ryan Gosling driving along and smashing someone’s skull open. It absolutely blasts out of the speakers with confidence and vigor it’s even darker than its predecessor: fully incorporating the sounds of cyberpunk and twisting its arm. The one-two hit of ‘ Welcome Back‘ and ‘ Perturbator’s Theme‘ follows the same setup of the previous album’s opener: a gentle lull of ambience that gives way to Perturbator’s trademark sound. The track title and album closer is a thirteen-minute prop-synth epic, which yes… does sound shit on paper (or at the very least: pretentious) but is brilliantly structured, and an excellent piece of electronic song craft.
